I have/had a Romie that I built that the trigger/disconnector wouldn't release so you could fire the gun again. I replaced the disconnrector spring because I was told that might be the problem, but it wasn't.
I have couple more Romie kits and FGC groups waiting for receivers and me to finish them...so I tried a new/different trigger and disconnector, but it still didn't release. I finally thought I'd try the hammer spring and that fixed the problem. Now for my question: Is there any way to re-wind the spring so it would be strong enough to make the trigger work properly? |

From what you wrote it sounds like the spring is deformed. Can you post a picture?
Once a spring is stretched past the point where it returns to the original shape, it's damaged. You can't really rewind it and make it work again. So not worth it to. Hammer springs cost what, $4? BSW |

The spring doesn't really look "deformed", but I noticed the coils are more open than the one I put in the gun that made the disconnector release the hammer when I released the trigger. When the hammer was in the fired position the trigger felt like it had good tension on it.
I'm not sure if the problem is the method I am using to install the hammer. I was told to "hook" each "leg" of the spring on the ears of the hammer then use some forceps to hold the ends until I get the hammer in place. Once the pin is in place I remove the forceps, then use them to place the spring ends on the trigger. Is that basically how everyone else is doing it? Where can I get springs for $4? |

If you get this set the price is cheaper: http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=16922&cat=319&page=1
They also have the individual springs for $8, so it must have been a while since I bought one. I always instal the hammer first, I've found it's a lot easier that way. BSW |

I like having the room that installing the hammer 1st gives me. I just push the legs of the hammer spring over to give the room to drop the trigger and disconnector in.
I don't think you would damage the hammer spring by installing it the way you describe. Not sure how it would have got that way. BSW |

I don't know...I did take the hammer out two or three times before I function tested it. I guess it could have been bad from the get go I didn't do anything wrong. I have built out 3 Romie kits and one Tantal. This has been the only one to act this way.
Thanks for your help! I'll try putting the hammer in first on my next build...got two more Romie kit that I bought back when they were still $99.00! |
