Anybody running left hand bolt carriers? also what are your thoughts?
I put one on each of my AK's a little less than a year ago and have shot both at the local carbine match. I kinda like running the AK without having to take my right hand off the pistol grip. I can work the bolt carrier and change mags with my left hand. Also I don't have to tork the gun upside down or twisted to cycle the bolt or clear the chamber. mp |

Whats the big deal, it still ejects to the right which isn't something a lefty wants if they are shooting left handed right? I shoot off the left shoulder without a problem. If you're concentrating on the target, the operating handle and the ejected cases aren't distracting. |

Oh ok, I thought the cases ejecting in front of the shooters face would be a problem, but the ak does sling them out. Good to know, my son is a lefty. |

Being a left handed shooter as well, i find the ak pretty LH friendly as far as shell extraction, however when shooting the corrosive bulgarian 5.45 I seem to be more exposed to the awful lethal like gas that it produces, Of course I could just be a pussy Yup you're a pussy ![]() The pleasing aroma is half the point.

The world is a right handers world, but we southpaws have learned to adapt. When I first started planning my first AK build I had plans to convert the carrier to a LH carrier, but apart from the bolt handle jabbing you in the back if you carry it that way it really does not matter much. If you sling the AK the way it was designed then what a left handed person is going to want is the sling on the other side and maybe the carrier as well. But of my collection I have no desire to change them much as they are plenty nice and functional as they are. One of these days I am going to spring for membership and I will start posting pictures of my builds. |
