Sorry for making a thread that can be answered so easily but after searching I cannot find any information about screw in barrels for AK's. I was told by a member of another board that I would not have to press my barrel is I just bought a screw in barrel kit. So is there a such thing? If so why don't more people use it? And who makes them?

| most all countries had milled rifles.yugoslavia, hungary, russia, bulgaria, poland, germany etc.these were the early rifles.the kit you are probably going to find/buy would probably be a yugo milled kit.the M-64 most likely.I love the milled rifles and have several, built and waiting to be built.most people don't or won't get a milled kit as they are harder to work on,by that I mean repairing the receiver with a weld plate, lot can happen there or grinding the trunnion stubs down to fit in a standard stamped receiver.but some loved the milled and buy a milled receiver and have them built on that or build it themselves.. |

yea...like ding said...yugo m64's have threaded barrels and amd's also do. if you get an amd...i heard green mountain has barrels for those. i dont' think it's that people stay away from them...i believe it was the fact that kits that were available just last year or 2 ago were cheaper to build and easier to deal with (ie headspacing). ak's with threaded barrels are said to be harder to headspace and so weren't purchased as often as stamped receiver ak's were, but now we're coming to the last bunch of ak kits coming into the states that these kits with threaded barrels are starting to sell...and with ohio rapid fire and apex guns coming up with solutions to fix these 'threaded barrel' ak's (yugo m64's specifically) people are snatching up the kits. i've seen alot of posts of builders that get the cut barrel amd's just building them into ak pistols. so...that's my 2 cents on it. anyone agree? disagree? First Question Here. I bought one of the AMD-65 Kits - but the Cut barrel was not included. The rest of the kit sans the reciver is complete. My plan is to build a AK pistol. I have since picked up a Yugo barrel - But the OD is much larger than the gas block and front sight etc, etc. Can I stiill do this? or do I need to buy a Yugo Gas block and Sight from APEX? The Barrel is not threaded - ( At least I don't think that it is ) Thoughs input |
