Call me what you will but I can't seem to get the rear trunion rivets to install properly (they always club over leaving part of the hole exposed). I'm trying to squeeze them using a 12 ton press. Should I make some sort of template to provide relief for the rivet heads or what? Whatever I'm doing, it aint working and I could use some advice.

Maybe the long trunnion  rivets are too long; compare the protruding end with the other rivets like cross pin-only .125 when trunion rivet protrusion is .375. It may be too much to form the round rivet head without bending it sideway. You would need the round backing and round rivetter. Maybe this helps.

Use a hammer for the first while and as they start to bend over use a small cresent wrench and bend them back straight. after the rivet has swelled in the trunion and a head is starting to form then you can give er hell in the press.

Was the hole(s) opened up to much?
If so, the rivet has to much room to move side to side and is most likely bending rather then smashing, you may have to do the hammer thing to get it started like Steve said.
