What is a good receiver to get for a build? Anyone have any info on Ohio Ordnance MK99 receivers?

Personally I would stay away for them.  But that is because, if I am going to pay for a professionally built reciever it better be a full heat treat.  To me it says that they dont know how to heat treat if they have warping probs.  Nodak doesnt have a warping problem!!! Nor do I. Plus a hard receiver resists scratching and wont dent.  your finished product will look much nicer.

My heat treat method

I just built on a Ohio Ordnance didnt seem to have any trouble at all with it . seems to be built better than the original too , seemed to be sturdy enough for the job .   I have only done one tho , so i dont have any experience with the Nodak .

the older OOW recievers used to be to long, but i believe the new one's are fine.  nodak spud (Dci) are my first choice!

They used to have a issue with the selector hole being too low also. I don't know if they ever fixed it or not.

I have used some of both Ohio and Nodak receivers and both seem to be nice and both seem to have their limitations.  I also have built my own receivers with nearly as good results so I would say it depends on your budget and your abilities.  If you can't built your own then go with who ever has the best prices.  I sat on Nodak's waiting list for a Yugo M90 receiver for months and finally went with one from Ohio for 1/4 the price and received it within a week.
