Is it possible to machine off the two bulges on the sides of the Yugo front trunnion so one could install it on a flat sided receiver? It had just crossed my mind since i have a flat folder for standard flat sided receivers. Seeing all these yugo 7.62 Krink kits for sale just got me to pondering.

The Yugo's are built on a receiver the is thicker. The outside dim. is still the same as a regular AK but the trunnion (outside of the bulge) is narrower. Sure you can mill off the bulges (which will make many of your ARFCOM brothers cry) but you will still have to shim up the sides to componsate for the trunnion that is too narrow. The same with the rear stock attachment.
My two cents is build the Yugo and not try to make it into something that it is not. Hell you could probable sell it get a RommyG kit and have money left over.

The post that is commonly seen is the one on taking a milled receiver Yugo and grinding the milled receiver stubs to fit into a stamped receiver shell.  If given the options of that or "shimming up" a buldged trunnion and has been ground down, I think that I would take the milled receiver cut down weapon.

(as an aside, on the milled weapon weapon/to stamp receiver conversion. After grinding down the old receiver I would have drilled conventional holes for rivets and then riveted it as a standard build. Although the weld job he did is interesting it just does not look right just my $0.02)

It was just one of my "Brain Farts". I didn't know yogo's used the heavier receivers.I have a neighbor who has a M70B and it is sweet.I dont care for the gas port shut off system. I love the M72's but won't pay the inflated price for the kit or the complete rifle.Had i bought one a year ago (M-72) the price probably would have been more down to earth. Thanks for the info guys........

It is possible and done by some but having a Yugo M90 I would advise against it.  It is a heavy duty firearm.  As for the kits being "inflated" in price, I would have to disagree.  It is worth the higher price, you get a lot better quality and I'm not just talking about the gas system.  Not sure if the M70s come with it, but my M90 has flip up Tritium night sights.  It makes my Romys look weak when they are next to it.

M-70's have a grenade launcher sight.when you flip it up,it shuts off the gas so it all goes out the muzzle pushing the grenade
