| I want to parkerize my first ak build. I think the whole rifle would look good in a black park finish, plus it would help hide some of the scratches on my newly bent receiver. I understand that the parts must be submerged in the solution for a period of time. Can I park my barrel? what about the bore? how about the internal parts? are there any internals that should not be treated. Can anybody post pics of their parkerized ak's so that we all can see. Thank You, Matt |

Matt, as long as your bore is chrome lined it will be fine. You should of course blast it before you park it, temp should be approx. 195 degree if you are using manganese phosphate, and typically you'll want to leave them submerged until all or the majority of the bubbling stops. Depending on the steel content and especially how hard the steel is, it may never completely stop bubbling. You'll just have to keep an eye on it. Be sure to degrease it well before you start and handle it with latex gloves after it is blasted to prevent any oil transfer. Hope that helps. |
| I used the parkerizing solution from shootersolutions.com and the results were great. used a large flat stainless pan across 2 burners on the stove. Took everything apart, steel wooled, cleaned well and parked everything oncluding barrel, mag etc. didn't park trigger parts or internals. No problems with the barrel bore. |
