Just got my kit today , it looks pretty good , stamped 1980 and all matching #s too . I have the tapco trigger kit that is 4 parts included . All i need now is the Reciever , and one more US part to make 6 all together ? Would a flash supressor work ? The one on it is kinda only half way there anyways ...

TAPCO fire control group is counted as 3 parts. The reciever counts as one part, get a US made pistol grip, and a US made flashhider and you'll be good to go while still keeping the original look of the Romy G.

I hate to rain on your parade but the Tapco FCG which has 4 parts is only 3 that count, the pin holding things together doesn't count.  Hammer, trigger, disconnector.

Yes you can get a US muzzel break or slant break, most people do that along with the Piston and receiver to make the 6 parts, you also do a US pistol grip is you want  to keep your original break.

What about rivets and pins and all that , do they all usually need to be replaced ?

Yeah, you're going to need something to attach the parts to the receiver.

The barrel pin that holds the barrel into front trunion can be reused.  Replacements can be bought for ~$4.

Yeah you can get great results from just sanding and restaining..  In fact just did that to my Romy last week..

If you want i can take some pictures of how it came out inculuding which stain I used.  I stained it in red mahogany.

The muzzle break that is "only halfway there" is a slant muzzle break.  I believe somewhere here there is a link to a test that found the slant break one of the best for controlling flash.

I got a us pistol grip,  the three parts for the trigger, the receiver and the us made gas piston.  I also got a US made folding stock, but I want to be able to use the original too, so I won't count that as a compliance part.  If I have the folding stock on, I get 7 compliance parts.

Now I just need to put the darn thing together.

There's a link in the "links for builders" thread, I think.  Might be on page 2.

Basically, people are getting good results with RIT fabric dyes.  I got some at Jo Annes fabrics the other day.

The colors in question are Scarlet, Golden Yellow, and Dark Brown.  Golden Yellow only comes in powder form, I think.

Just for kicks, I got some RIT Dark Green.  I'm gonna do a set in that just to see what it looks like.
