I cannot find any tutorials for using the bfh method to instal a barrel. Obviously a shop press would be better, but what is the ideal method for installing a barrel using a big hammer? Whats the best way to support the trunion and receiver?

I see people using that method to remove I don't know about install, why don't you do the allthread method, cheap and easy.

The BFH method is pretty straight forward using a vise to hold the trunion/receiver while you do it.  The trick is you freeze the barrel first and heat the trunion.  But be ready to get it in quick where you want it (you probably won't need the BFH if you do) as it moves really quick.  The all thread system is a lot better though.  Get some threaded rod and using some nuts and washers you can press the barrel on the old fashion way by twisting the nuts.  Good luck and enjoy.

I forgot about the all thread method. I used the pully puller to take it off and that went alot easier than I had imagined. Does anyone have a link to that, I know I have seen it before though and I am familiar with it, but a link with some pictures would be nice.

ETA: found one, incase anyone else was curious:

I did it that way (BFH) all I have to say is that it worked fine, but make sure to be carefull how you put the reciever in the vice. I bent my reciever doing this(stupid!!!) other than that just make sure to use a block of wood or some type of softer metal to protect the muzzle.

I couldnt qiute get the barrel pin hole in the barrel and the hole in the trunnion to line up perfect but once I hammered the pin in it straigtened out, I know because I took it back out later because it was bothering me, and hammering the pin in lined up the holes perfectly.
