Damn that was fun!  A lot of work but worth it.  I wish I had started doing this earlier.  It feels so much better building than buying!  So much more satisfying!  Also cheaper.  This one cost me a little less than $200

I have two more Romanian and one AMD65 kit left to build. :)

Here is the parts kit (sorry about all these pics.  My Camera is dieing :( )

Some during the build

All de-milled

Trying to get that damn Shepard's hook in!

The finished product.  It turned out pretty well!

Close up of the rivets.

looks good, but if you did it for under $200, you missed a few things, like compliance parts.

I use trigger group and mag.  Later I will be adding US furniture.

ETA I was able to score a few kits for $100 ea

Yea.....the point is that gun is together without compliance parts...you need to not do that....

I got my two romy kits for $60 each fully matching and one was never fired the other was barely used.  2 NDS-3 receivers were $75ea OTD, compliance parts kit from copes will be around $50ea, and a Rivot set off the EE will run me about $5.  That puts both of my builds at $190 each in just parts...can't get a WASR that cheap either.

I just wish I could find an AK builder to help me build them around Bethlehem PA

If you dont mind driving a bit, look in the NY/NJ hometown forum. We are getting together a lower NY/NJ AK build party in the near future. Or post in the PA forum. Ive gone to build parties not far from Bethlem.

Impressive, in addition to compliant parts slap a finish on it and take some more pictures.  Love to hear we're not the only bunch who do build parties, it is a great thing to bring people together who would perhaps not get together otherwise.

My last Romy "G" kit costs me $179.00 to complete, and the compliant parts included reveiver, FCG, gas piston and muzzle break.  So building one for under $200 is very do-able.

Yeah I still have to sand blast it and refinish.

I picked up the kit for $100, receiver for $50, and trigger group for $30.  I got the rivets from a friend and I already have US mags to satisfy the 922r Nazis until I pick up a new furniture set.  I can't wait to start building the other ones!
