| I have been looking to build or buy an AK. I don't know which ones are best. I see plenty of Romanian, Polish and Yugo kits as well as som Hungarian kits. I would rather build these for myself. I think I would like to build one of each (AK-74 underfolder and full size and AK-47 Underfolder and full size). I am used to american weapons and have everything now I want to get a few block weapons just to have. |

My best countries of manufacture for AK kits. (these are the ones that are available and that I have seen on the market recently) 1. Yugoslavian Underfolders and Fixed (in 7.62 M70A/B and RPK M72, and 5.56 M90) 2. Bulgarian Side folders and Fixed (only AK-74' s on the market as I can tell. Some RPK-74 kits on market as well) 3. Hungarian underfolders, fixed stocks and side folding (AMD-65/63) 4. Polish Underfolder,fixed stock, and side folding Tantal (AK-74 type) 5. Romanian fixed stocks, underfolders, and side folders (and Romanian RPK) Just because I listed these in a "favorite" order doesn't mean I am knocking them. I own most models listed and I suggest building a Romanian first, just cuz they are the cheapest if you screw up....they can be made to look real pretty and are ALL the epitome of reliability. 90% of the board members will tell you that the Yugoslavians are the best out there now. |
