Has anyone tried any of the newer wd40 specialist line for there rifles? I know the original isn't generally recommended for guns, but the new line looks like it might have some promise. Here's a link if you are unfamiliar. http://wd40specialist.com/products. I thought that the foaming cleaner may be good for BCGs and stuff, the gel lubricant might lube ok, and that the long term rust inhibitor may be good for long term storage. What do you guys think?

BTW, I am well aware of the thousands of products for gun cleaning, lubing, and protecting, both individual and hybrid purpose products. I am only looking to see if anyone has thoughts on this or has tried it out.

There are some reviews and tests out there that show that it's excellent for preventing rust.

I use it as a rust preventative on my vehicles, equipment, and guns.  Works great.  I wouldn't use it as a lube....because that's not what it's made for.  It's a corrosion preventative.  Use it like that and it's excellent.

Also, works as a solvent, but again, not a lubricant.

I sand blasted my .22 lr rifle using play sand from Depot.

It was pretty gritty and rough looking.

I then postponed any more work for a year, the rifle/barrel sat in my garage for a year and did not rust.

All I did to prevent rust was sprayed WD-40 on the blasted steel.

WD40 or WD40 Specialist? There's a difference.

That is an excellent way to get silicosis. Play sand is not safe for sandblasting.

I use the regular blue can as a solvent but use this in the hard to reach areas and for the buffer spring.

WD40 is not a bad rust preventative but the Specialist line is way better.
