For all you guys who use bore snakes I have a question for you.
Do you have any experience with the Bore Snakes on eBay? For the price of one Hoppes I can buy several off eBay. I suspect that the Hoppes ones are made in China and are no different then the eBay ones but I am not sure. Experience? |

I have had one of these cheap ones almost get stuck: Brush section size on cheap snake was not correct for bore. After using both hands to muscle out the .223 marked snake out of my AR, I finally got it out ... bristles completely flatted. My daughter ran to the garage asking why was I yelling like I was squatting 300 pounds. .223 cheap snake: bad experience, the Brush section (plug underneath the bristles) was too large Savings are minimal and to me a lesson learned. |

I bought some chinese cheapies off Amazon for $4 each. They might be inferior to Bore Snakes, but I can't tell. Seeing as how I can get 4 for the price of one Bore Snake, I'll take my chances.
My chambers and barrels look just as shiny when I use the Chinese crap. And now, I can pepper them around in my gear - cleaning, range bag, tool box, etc. In fact, think I might grab some more.... 22/.223 Cheap Chinese crap here for $3.92 (as of 11/21/15) ETA: Between the 10/22s I loan out at Appleseeds, and my ARs that I run, these things get a workout, and I've had no problems. |
