I am considering getting one for cleaning the smaller parts in my AR15 and a 10/22...as well as cleaning brass if I decide to get into reloading later.
Has anyone heard of the bald eagle BE1165 by Grizzly? Any comments about them if you have? Grizzly's main warehouse is in Bellingham, WA and not too far from me. But looking for input before purchasing one. Have not found any reviews. Thanks and hope everyone had a good weekend. Greg |

Better to post in the Maintenance & Cleaning section, as there are a lot of threads on Ultrasonic Cleaners there.
Grizzly has been around for a few years, and are pretty well known in the woodworking communities and so forth. They make tons of tools, all imported, but much better quality than places like Harbor Freight, at cheaper than prices like Delta. Their stuff for the most part should be GTG. BTW, Grizzly recently started a new site, I believe Bullets.com. The owner is pro-gun, and started selling reloading and other gun stuff. That's another win in Grizzly's column. |

Works great on brass and gun parts. Side note, I experimented with several homemade recipes, Hornady Ones shot and couldn't get anything to work quite as well as the RCBS brand gun and brass cleaner solutions. 1 bottle lasts a long time. |

Thanks! Guess I will take a trip up to Grizzley's on my next day off. Been there many times but it must have been prior to bullets.com. I have bought lots of woodworking tools there. Its the kind of showroom that you go into and just start to drool if you like that sort of stuff. :)

I have the Harbor Freight unit. If I was to do it over I would not buy it. It does not work very good. Makes mostly noise. I have tried Lyman cleaner, Hornady cleaner and home made recipes.
I have tried to clean brass. Does a so so job but only can put in small batches and then you have to deal with drying them. Does not remove all the carbon from inside. Dry tumbling is faster, less messy and does a better job IMHO. I have tried to clean AR15 bolt carrier groups. The cleaning solution gets black but there is still enough carbon on the BCG that after 5 or 6 cycles you still have to manually clean it. I tried completely disassembling and it made no difference. Someone suggested using the purple aluminum safe Simple Green. I will try that on my BCG next time. Then after that I will get rid of it. I keep reading how people think this is the greatest thing. I wish it was true. |

I have not used it for the AR but I have used it for brass and handgun parts with great success. |
