I was going to use a jag in my le6920 it is a .22 cal jag with a patch on it but it would not go into the barrel. So I stopped I was afraid I would screw something up.Or Am I doing something wrong?  Thanks to all that reply.

You'll want a brass jag with a guide. Yes it's going to be very tight fit. That's the idea behind it. Brass is softer than the metal of the barrel, so in theory it shouldn't hurt it but if you're not using a guide, you can in fact damage it.

Generally speaking a .22 is a very tight fit and you'd probably want a .17 jag.

Thank you.

I usually have to use .17 jags on .22-caliber barrels. My .22 jag doesn't work on ANY of my .22's.

Your patch may be too large. I bought a bag of those triangular patches for my .234/556 and they work great.

Seems like a lot of .22 brass jags are too big.
I just put the threaded end in a drill and tight JUST enough to hold without damaging the threads, then spin the drill while I use a fine cut file to turn the jag down a little.

If the jag and patch are too tight, you can easily bend a good cleaning rod.
That's why I PULL the rod instead of pushing it.
I run a one-piece stainless rod down the chamber end and out the muzzle.
Put on a jag and patch, wet down with solvent an pull it out the chamber end.

I use either a loop type jag or one of the Parker-Hale rod type jags that you wrap the patch around.

I had the same issue with my Tipton jag. I bought caliber specific cotton patches and it solved the problem.

Right...I use 1.25" round cotton patches with a Tipton jag.  Have to be sure to use just one patch as two is too tight a fit.
