Anyone know what the best method is to remove rocksett residue from barrel threads?

I usually just use a gun solvent (like Hoppe's #9) and a brass brush

I did not realize that, and explains why some have reported being able to loosen a rockset attached FS by soaking it in water, although that has never worked for me.

It is water soluble when wet. It is likely it is not once it has cured.

So what works? Soaking in water or torquing the muzzle device right off? I was talking to a fella the other day and he mention applying some kroil to it. Let it soak and it should come right off.

I had to resort to torque.  Barrel in a vice and crowbar in the FS.
