I  like Ballistol oil. What points do I lube outside to prevent rust? If you are outside and it gets exposed to rain / moisture for a few days.
Most of the stuff is aluminum in the lower receiver as well as the rail, etc. I didn't know what rusts on it so I sprayed pretty much the entire external surface of the barrel/gas tube and that part that connects the gas tube to the barrel.

This is addition to the "normal" lubrication inside.

Best way is to just apply a thin coat of a good rust preventing product to everything.  If it's aluminum, that's no problem, if it's steel you're covered.

I don't think Balllistol is all that good a rust preventing product.  I'd go with something better, like CLP Breakfree which is one of the best for preventing rust.
There are several other products known for good rust preventing properties.
