I am about to order 2 boresnakes. 1 for my new AR and 1 for my new 308.

Is there any major difference between the regular and the viper other than price?

Which would you buy?

The viper ones are a little more aggressive and better quality. I have a couple of them and I prefer the viper ones, especially considering you can get the better ones from amazon for the same price as a regular one at walmart.

I prefer the Viper, personally. I really don't think it's a difference worth arguing over, though.

I was reading the reviews on amazon for both of them and alot of people say they have problems out of the viper ones. They are alot cheaper off amazon than anywhere. Ordering 2 tonight.

I also read those reviews and decided to order the normal snake. Keep us updated and let us know if you have any issues.

Hmm Yeah it does seem like alot of folks have had it break on them the first time they used it. I would be pretty pissed to run it down my brand new barrel and have it break halfway though.

I have one in .45 which I only use on my 1911 and I have one in .22 which I use on my AR,10/22 and 22 pistol no problems yet with either of them.

Boresnakes are good for just running them down the bore and doing a very quick clean but they are not a replacement for taking the time to properly clean a barrel with a rod and patches etc..

I'd say the more important thing with the boresnake is not to run it through the bore "dry"

The 223 is very tight fitting.  :)
