Nice product, but if the brass end fails your only opition is to replace the entire rod for about $35.  Mine split and won't hold attachments.  They're hot glued on.  I email Tipton for a replacement. The response from Customer Service/Design Engineer was, "The brass end of the rod is attached to the rod during the manufacturing process, therefore, there are not replacement parts available to send or sell you for the rod.  The rod was not designed to be a “serviceable” item."   They advertise, "The "shank-through" construction also allows the user to apply "reasonable" hammer blows to the end of the cleaning rod to get a tight patch through a bore."  I recommend you aviod that because if you damage the brass tip you're done.

Thanks for the info OP. I have a Tipton in my shopping cart at Midway, but now think I'll reconsider.

I hate buying quality then having it fail. Buy once, cry once should hold true- but seems that's not the case here.

Edit- I just removed the Tipton and replaced it with a Dewey (to match my pistol Dewey rod). My older steel rod has served me well for 25+ years though.

I have bad luck with Dewey rods. The coated ones peel. Best rods I've found are Pro-shot one piece stainless. Indestructible and well made.
