| TW25-B, Worth the price ? |
|
For an AR, no.
For CCW stuff and HD guns yeah, it's good for that stuff for the simple fact that it stays put. But in a gun that you are using often and cleaning often it's too much work to clean off and re apply all the time. If you are fine with that and the price have at it. I tried it and that's what I came to conclude. Anything that gets used often or a range toy is CLP, pistols, shotguns and rifles. HD and CCW get a light coat of TW25B. |

I think its well worth it. It does stay in place - doesn't migrate from the areas that most need lube. I use it on slides on my semi autos and AR. I don't find it difficult to clean off - but my first step in cleaning is a dunk and brush in mineral spirits. Gets off the loose carbon and any lubricants.
That said, if you pore over a variety of opinions on a variety of forums, you will find different opinions aplenty. Some guys even use wheel bearing grease.... Slip 2000 products also seem to get a lot of good reviews, but I haven't tried them. |

This is pretty much my thoughts as well. That said, the TW25B and MC2500 are my dedicated pistol lubes and all I will use for that application. For the AR15 FOW,I prefer to use Weapon Shield CLP for basically the same reasons outlined above. |

I too love TW25B and use it on my handguns and AR's. They make a really cool product that comes in a wipe. It is soaked in TW25B with some 91% ISA. It will act like a CLP as the combination will lightly clean the weapon, but the wipe puts down a coating of TW25B on the entire weapon...inside and out and the alcohol will evaporate. They only cost about $1.19 each and I use them after a good bore and bcg cleaning, thus cleaning the remaining surfaces and laying down a protective layer. The more you wipe, the thinner the layer of TW25B. This is great for maintenance every 250-500 rounds or so keeping all mechanicals lubed and all surfaces protected from corrosion.
I do still use regular TW25B on the bcg rails. After 3,000+ rounds I have no discernable wear at all anywhere on the weapon. The only other product I use is Pro-Shot 1-Step or Pro-Shot Copper Cleaner in the bore after every shooting session. 1-Step is a CLP product and a lot of gunsmiths use Pro-Shot on bores as it removes copper, lead, plastic, wax, powder, etc. I shoot a lot of .22 lr via a conversion kit and that copper jacketed stuff is dirty. |
