I have used starting fluid since 1967. It will not affect plastics of any sort, and if you get the cheapest without the so called 'top end oil',
it will leave no residue at all. My first job when I was young was working for a family of German tool and die makers. They taught me the ropes and were amazing people. They always used starting fluid in the spray can for any thing that had to be cleaned and leave no residue, so I have had great success with it over the years. It also will not make me feel sick, like so much other stuff sold now days. |
| Been using LMT to clean my rifles lately. Helps to lift the carbon quickly. I like it. I get it from Lowes in the lawnmower section. I spray it on and let it sit for awhile...sometimes overnight. Next day, most of the carbon lifts off quickly.....some still needs to be scraped off but most comes off easily. Also, it leaves a light oil on the metal. |

I've used non-chlorinated brake cleaner and it works like a champ. Can get it for around $1 a can at Wal-Mart Big +1 on the Brakecleen. It works great, is cheap and basically no scrubbing if you clean your gun regularly. I take the upper along with BCG outside and spray them down. The BrakeCleen will dry very fast. Bring them back in and oil them up. |
