Morning Everyone,

I bought my first AR-15 Saturday and I'm loving it, but I'm having a small problem.  I can't take it apart to clean it!  I have popped the removal pin all the way out, but it will not come apart at the back of the lower receiver at all.

Any suggestions of what it is I'm doing wrong or missing?

Thanks

Is your bolt all the way forward?

Yep bolt all the way forward.

We were able to take apart the S&W my friend bought at the same time no problem.

pop front pin as well, rear pin may not be all the way out and bolt may not be all the forward hit the FA a time or 2.

Will do when I get home tonight.

I appreciate the input.

Just guessing here, is it possible that the buffer has "jumped" the stop pin and be too far out to allow the separation?  Removing both pins should allow the rifle to come apart and one should be able to visibly inspect the reason why.

I was able to get it apart. Popped the FA a couple times still nothing from the back.

Taking the front pin out I was able to get separation there. From there I was able to get the back to come apart as well.

It doesn't look to me like the buffer was to far forward. I put it back together and was able to get the back to break free, just took a little more force than I expected.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I was expecting to be lambasted as a newb!

Mine was really tight the first few times I broke it open as well.  They loosen up with use.

Oh, boy. What somebody could do with that line, but I won't go there!

Okay, it's actually good that its tight - shows that the upper and lower fit so close that they rub right there where the upper closes. Just rub a little grease there on both parts - just a little with the finger tip. Most ARs have a little gap there and that's why, but nothing like a tight one.
