| I am looking for an all around AR platform cleaning kit. Wanted some suggestions on the best. |

There is no one kit that's "the best".
Most shooters build their own kit, starting with a tackle box to keep it in. Buy a one piece stainless steel or carbon fiber rod. Dewey is high quality and sort of the standard. Buy whatever type of patch holders you want, either the button type or the loop type. Buy these made of brass. Buy a bore guide that fits into the receiver to guide the rod and keep dirty solvent out of the receiver. Buy whatever bore solvent you like. Buy an Accubore plastic pipette to apply solvent with. This prevents contaminating the bottle by dipping patches or brushes and allows putting the solvent right where you want it. Buy whatever type of lubricant you like. Buy some M16 toothbrush type cleaning brushes. Buy bronze or synthetic bore brushes. Buy plenty, they don't last long. Buy chamber brushes. Buy good patches in bulk. To clean carbon fouling off the bolt and bolt carrier, either buy carbon removal tools, or buy a big jar of Slip 2000 Carbon Cutter. The tools mechanically scrape the carbon off, the Slip 2000 removes it chemically. You can buy everything from Brownell's. As you buy other guns, all you have to add are cleaning rods and tips, gun-specific tools, and different size patches. For guns you clean from the muzzle, buy brass cone-shaped muzzle protectors for the cleaning rods. |

Some pictures of my cleaning kit, it is culmination of many years of collecting stuff, some of the items in my box are 35 years old. The box is a Plano 737 tackle box with drawers not 3700 snap closed boxes. The top covers can open separate from the rest of the box to expose the lubes and also a parts top for quick access. The bottom-right side is where the jags, mops and brushes are stored, separated by caliber.
The big lubes can are in the top. The box serves two purposes, one as a cleaning storage the second is I keep all of the tools I need to work on the rifles. The tool with the blue handle in the top section is my Seekonk torque wrench set at 140 in-lbs dedicated for all of my LMT MRP rifles. This is the best tool purchase I have ever made, if you have a MRP, then get this torque wrench. |
