I got a stag arms upper in the summer and put 50 rounds though it. I did not clean or lube the upper after I got it nor did I clean/lube it after. I plan on shooting it this weekend. I know I can run a dirty upper but not dry. I am gonna lube it this week. Is it ok that I am not cleaning it before? I plan on putting 100 rounds though it this weekend. The gun should not be that dirty since I only have 50 rounds though it. Any insight will be useful. Thanks

My advice would be to strip, clean, and lube it before shooting. This will ensure no debris or shavings from the factory work any further into critical parts. Then shoot it and clean it again.

How often do you think some of the rifles in the sandbox are getting cleaned?  Now I myself am anal and I clean every gun withing 24 hours of shooting it, no matter how many rounds are fired. But I do know they would all continue to fire without the cleaning.

Good practice to clean after using, especially if your pride and joy is going to be stored for awhile. Best way to protect your investment IMO - AR's are far from cheap.

That said - 50rds isn't that much, don't overthink this. Wet up your bolt (especially around gas rings / neck) and if you can - run oily patch through the barrel before shooting. Then clean it all up, inspect for wear (all the usual stuff) when you are done. Your rifle should be just fine.
