Does anyone use ballistol to clean, lube or both on their ar with success?
Also I would imagine different outcomes using this stuff on di vs piston. I have 2 spray cans of this stuff and use it on my pistols, 10/22 and m4 carbine with great results. I have not tried it on my shotgun or ar's yet because they get hot except for the piston ar and I wanted to get feedback from others before I try it out. |

Yeah, ballistol is hard to find in person. I bought it online through midwayusa in 2 aerosol cans.
For the guys above me that use it, what are you using for? And does it work for the whole ar? I use this stuff on the above listed guns to clean, lube and protect. I don't use anything else because the ballistol does a great job, it's not messy and is easy. |

I use it primarily for cleaning. It works really well for that purpose, and I especially like that it's non-toxic. It also does a good job as a protectant; but I don't think it's really the best lube available. For lube I'll use Weapon Shield, M1 or G96. The last time I bought Ballistol I ordered it directly from the company's website: http://www.ballistol.com/ Great stuff. |

Quoted:
A number of guys running corrosive ammo in 5.45 guns are using it post-cleaning to "finish the job". I don't know what it is about Ballistol that is supposed to be so good, but I've heard enough about it that I'm going to investigate. Emulsifies with water, thus you can use it to get the last of the moisture out plus has a high Ph so can counter mild acids. Is Old School "CLP" from 1905 ;-) The Ballistol Story |

I use it for gp cleaning and lubrication. When I was stationed in Norfolk I was able to find it in town and at the range. Here's a quote from the website: BALLISTOL |

If people don't like the smell of black licorice, then they may not like the smell of Ballistol. Ultimately though, it's not really that big of a deal anyway as the odor fades to pretty much nothing within just a few hours. The way it smells doesn't bother me at all. |

Ballistol is great for C&R guys. It mixes with water so it removes corrosive residue from old mercury primers and lubes a little at the same time.
I think it works well as a cleaner for all plastic or polymer, makes it look new. Probably a better cleaner than a lube, but I can't say for sure as I use a combination of lubes with it. |

I am useing Ballistol since I joined the Forces and it worked great for me on all gun, G3, MG3, AR15, Glocks (no prob with the plastic) Sig´s, HK´s, Semi and Pump action shotty´s.
Since it is nice to almost every surface, exept dirt itself, I have also used it to clean boots, helmets, Holsters made of leather and plastic and many other stuff. I have not used on web-gear since I dont like the smell so much and I don´t want to make the smell stay close on my body. There is some other stuff from Ballistol called Robola Solo-MIL. and Robola Solo-FORCE. That stuff is pretty agressiv and you don´t want to have it on plastic and blue gun parts. They are both ammonia based an they stink like hell. But, leaving a crappy AR-Bolt in it over night will kill all the dirt and you can whipe it of with a soft rag. But it stinks!!!! Just my .2 Euro-Cent Cheers, Gunner |

I have a can that was given to me with a semi-auto shotgun I brought. I don't use it to clean but, I do use it as lube.
Only use it on this shotgun. Just in case. It seems to work just fine. I don't like the smell ether. That's enough to make me not buy anymore. |
