Hey guys,

Has anyone had dealings with the Birdsong company that does the Black-T coatings?

I know that Walter has passed , but his son was continuing the company as far as I know.

Anyway, I talked to a couple of people there by phone and by email about a month ago, and they were all quick to return my emails and quick to answer the phone.  According to Susan, the woman I talked to, they will coat anyone's gun, even civilians.  And I have heard that Black-T is one of the upper-tier gun finishes, up there with NP3.

So, since they were easy to communicate with, and I had a Glock treated with Black-T about 6 years ago, I went ahead and sent my AR to them to do the same.

The problem - I shipped the gun in the second week of June, and since then, no one at Birdsong's has returned my emails or even answered the phone!  I don't mean to hurry them along, I just want to know if they have my gun, and that they are still in business, and plan to ship my gun back to me.

So, I guess my question is - does anyone have any idea what is going on there?  Are they just REALLY busy, or are they out-of-business? (Like I said, they were definitely in business as of the first week of June).

Or, alternatively, does anyone know another way of getting ahold of them?

Thanks a lot.

They are always running a backlog. Serving the military community for many years, I doubt that Walter's business would fold up the tents and just disappear overnight.

I have had two coated there. Took about 12 weeks to get them back. They sure are slick. I remember Walter was a real character and would talk your ears off. He told me that if I ever have a weapon freeze up in cold weather to just piss on it and get back in operation.
A little pee ain't gonna hurt my finish.
