Tried it.  Didn't like it.
Couldn't get over the shit smell.

I'm sticking with CLP and TW25B.

Yip gun oil for guns, car oil for cars, not sure why everyone wants to go against the grain. People are just looking for solutions when there was no problem.

I use Mobil 1 5w-30 in my wife's Grand Cherokee and Mobil 1 10w-30 in my YJ....but I use Mil Comm products to clean/lube my fire arms.

If your motor oil smells like shit, something is wrong.

Additionally, I don't recall CLP smelling wonderful.

Good of you to try it, and yes it does smell like motor oil, so I guess if you're not used to it it's not that great.

Do you have any other reason besides the smell in regards to why you didn't like it?

So I'm guessing you pay to have your oil changed too?

I've never heard anyone complain about the smell of motor oil before.

Mobil 1 has a very slight, yet inoffensive odor compared to many of the other "gun-specific" products out there. I'm surprised that anyone finds it (or any motor oil) to be an issue.

Beats the livin' heck outta CLP, too.

Usually do a prairie dog shoot once a year out in Montana with my best friend and last time I went I forgot to bring oil. Picked up a bottle of M1 20w50 at a bike shop on the way out. My friend just rolled his eyes and chuckled at me because I refused to use his lubricant.

Once afield (he was using Militec) his rifle went "jammomatic" after the first 150 rounds, couldn't get more than a few (3 or 4) rounds down the tube without some sort of malfunction or complication.

He then asked me if I was having any problems (we had the same rifle) and laughed at me again when I reminded him of what I was lubricating my rifle with even though his gun was the one with the "hiccups".

He bitched and moaned for the next two hours, finally got frustrated enough to ask to "borrow" some of what I had, thereby alleviating his problems. He picked up a bottle of M1 20w50 on the way back home.

I think that his actions said it all.

How are people having all these problems? I shot 400 rounds through mine the other day without a problem without lubing it beforehand. Was pretty dry.
