I picked this up yesterday to try to get rid of some left-behind grit in one of my rifles that I just couldn't get out (1891/30 and valve grinding compound). I started with using water as a cleaning agent and let it run for 2 max. cycles (7minutes total) on my 1911 slide - worked alright. Emptied the water and filled it with isopropal alcohol and dunked it for 3.5 minutes - WOW. I ran a TT-33, 2 1911's, 1 Mark 3 (FILTHY), AR bolt carrier group, Mosin-Nagant bolt, Glock 23, and P3AT on the same fluid - they came out great! I ran each for 7 minutes in hot fluid, and wiped them down with a shop rag and q tips to remove any remaining dirt (it just wipes off, no scrubbing at all :D ). The alcohol was black - and I've got a lot more to go! This stuff really is amazing. I'm going to invest in an actual firearm cleaning ultrasonic solution that's night sight safe - I've got a couple to dunk that I'm hesitant to dunk with the alcohol in there. It removes ALL oil of any kind, so parts can come out looking funky, but a quick application of oil and it's back to normal. Parts that you thought were perfect before look well worn after this sort of deep cleaning if there's any wear present. Pros: Pretty quick, cleans amazingly well in under 20 minutes, each and every action had better triggers and slides were easier to move (keep in mind I keep my guns CLEAN) Cons: alcohol vapor ate off the grey paint exposing the white plastic - the tank's metal, so I really don't care. It wasn't free, and I didn't have one earlier. |

And you also hear to not smoke, drive fast, drink, leave the engine running while filling up, or eat vast amounts of read meat. As long as there's no spark or exposed flame, you'll be fine. |
