I heard if you dont have enough range time you can hand cycle your new build to help break in can some one explain the routine ,just lube up and keep pulling back and realesing the bcg and can you dry fire or do you need a snap cap. And last another source told me to hand cycle live rounds is this even advisable or safe to pump full mags by hand through my AR at the house? Let me know the real deal thanks.

Sounds like you were feed a shovel full of bullshit.

ETA, never hand cycle live ammo thru  a gun when you do not have a safe place to lanuch a round.

Bad idea... if any fire control parts spontaneously break, the rifle can fire unexpectedly.  Also, the AR's firing pin is free floating.  Repeatedly chambering a round progressively dimples the primer and could set it off.  If one of the primers is soft or your firing pin sticks, the rifle can fire without pulling the trigger.

You don't need to break in the BCG.  Keep it lubed properly and you will be fine.

Dry firing won't hurt an AR.

Take everything you hear in a gunstore with a grain of salt, also.

i used to be worried about it, but i still do it occasionally, until i realized hand cycling is the same action as when im actually on the range,  being paranoid that the gun will go off hand cycling  is like being worried that charging a round, and every consecutive shot, might go off on its own, i know its a...possibility, but really whats the probability of that happening...then again i switched to dummy rounds so call me paranoid!!
