Does anyone do any preliminary cleaning with patch and brush, or do most start with the FBC?

I start with FBC then finish with brush and patch...

I do the same.

I flush the locking lugs, chamber, and bore with Break-Free Powder Blast before using the Bore Foam. This flushes out the large contaminants and preps the bore for cleaning.

I brush first, then use fbc.

I brush first to get most of the powder fouling out then use the FBC to get the cooper fouling out.

Since I use MPro 7 FBC I fill the bore with FBC and brush when ready.  Different FBCs have different instructions.

MPro7 has a FBC?

I'll have to see if I can find it here on the shelves. BF FBC seems to be getting harder to find.

Yes it is what i use.
Works great on all the rifles and pistols I have used it on. Does not work verry well on shotgun plastic wadding in the bore after 300 rounds of bird and 40 slugs.

If you want that plastic out of that shotgun barrel, puy the right gage bronze bore brush on the end of a cleaning rod in a cordless drill.  A few in and out passes with the drill will scrub it right out.  I used to shoot sporting clays and after a weekend with 200 rounds plus, this works great.

I've used the drill trick before, I'll use Gold medal bore cleaner (the bottle is that old) and a patch on a brush.  That is the only way I've found to remove heavy deposits in short order.
