After a recent cleaning, I noticed a smal gap (2 mm.) in one of my bolt rings. It is significantly larger than the gap in the other two.  How much gap is too much? What indicates the need for replacement? Any suggestions on how to replace it if necessary?

Should be fine.

As long as the spread in the gas ring doesn’t prevent you from inserting the bolt into the carrier, or for some reason cause binding within the carrier, you should be fine.

+1 on it being OK - different rings have different gaps, as long as it has only one, you're most likely GTG.  If the ring is suddenly protruding above the others, however, it might mean that it's broken & needs replacing.  Any real doubt, just replace it - they aren't expensive (even now!)   About the only BAD thing that might happen is if it breaks up the pieces might end up gouging on something or jam the action.  ARs will run fine with missing rings.
