I finally received my new Armalite AR10A4C. Right out of the box the lower looked great, however, the upper has a very chalky gray look to it. Every time I take it out of the safe after a wipe down, it looks chalky again. So far I've tried a silicon gun cloth, Hoppes No9 oil, and Kleen Bore Oil. It seems like it's getting a little better, but will this thing ever look Evil BLACK. It looks great everytime I put it in the safe... then chalky after it exits.
Before I get flamed for wanting my rifle to look "Purdy," well... hell, it's brand new and I want it to look purdy. Thanks guys, Bill |

Or you can just fill a bucket with 30 weight, hose down your upper with a couple cans of Brakleen followed by a dousing of MEK, stick your upper in the bucket back end first so the receiver is fully submerged and leave it overnight. A quick wipedown with a black rag and the rifle should have any residues removed and the pores of the metal should be fully saturated.
(Disclaimer: I have never done this nor do I ever intend to, but it sounds entertaining |

Use the procedure below to apply a light coat of CLP to the receiver. Follow that with a wipe-down using a black t-shirt. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v489/Metroliner/brush.jpg What's wrong with a *WHITE* T-shirt? :) |
