How safe or unsafe is Power Blast when it comes to plastics.

I'm wondering how careful I should be with my plastic hand guard when cleaning my barrel with this stuff.  The label is not very specific.

not sure about ar handguards, but on my Yugo AK is didn't hurt any of the plastic at all (grip and handguards).  Where do you intend on spraying it where it might get on the handguards?  It's most likely ok, but you can always test is on a very small inconspicuous location to be sure.  The only plastic I've heard of Breakfree Powder Blast harming is certiain Ruger plastics.

I've hit the M4 Colt hand guards, Walter p99 and a HK usp lots of times with non-chlorinated brake cleaner with no ill effects. As long as your powder blast is non-chlorinated your gtg.

I’ve never encountered plastic problems with BF Powder Blast usage on my AR’s.

You can buy a plastic safe solvent that is just as good.  I think Birchwood Casey makes it.

I have an old set of handguards that came from an old AR I had. I ussually try any new solvent on those and leave for about an hour to make sure, cuz you never can be too sure.

Breakfree Powder Blast melted the plastic grips on my Ruger MkII.  I was cleaning my rifle after a range trip and some excess solvent soaked into the mat I was cleaning on.  The Ruger was on the mat as well, and when I picked it up after about 30 minutes or so, the plastic had melted onto the mat.

The grip, rail panels, rail covers, and other plastic furniture on my rifle was unaffected.  But I do think Powder Blast has an effect on the battery covers of Eotech optics.  The battery terminal diagram on the bottom of my Eotech battery cover has bubbled.  I don't think it's heat from the upper receiver while firing the rifle, but the Powder Blast.  In the future I'll be careful with how liberally I spray the stuff.
