Don't know if its the best but these guys Sinclair have a good one. They have an attachment which plugs into the guide which lets you put the solvents, etc. on the patches without dripping into the receiver.  Sinclair is now a Brownells company.

I ordered this one, but its been on back order for a month.  It did get good reviews and looked like it would do the job.  Midway seemed to be the only place selling it though.

1++   this thing is the best.  what a fine piece of machined aluminum.  If you give a crap about your ar do your self a favor and get this thing!

+1 on the Sinclair. JP is good too, I just dont prefer metal to metal, even with "O" rings.

Made my own out of a piece of 1.00 diameter delrin.  It works very well; butts up against the chamber, so there is no chamber insert, but I don't feel it's necessary because the I.D. is true to the O.D. The O.D. is a nice slip-fit into the upper receiver.  I cross-drilled and inserted a dowel pin to serve as a stop, which indexes against the rear lug.  The only drawback is I need to place the rod into the guide, then insert the whole shebang into the receiver.  Thereafter, however, I just change patches as necessary.  I'm going to modify it by milling a window to apply solvent to the patch.  Having free material and the machinery at work helps!

I just dont feel a bore snake does a proper job of cleaning.  For a quick cleaning at the range, sure, but for a real cleaning, its not even close what one can do with a brush and jag.

Not to mention if you get the bastard stuck as has happened, your could be hosed. Boresmake seemed like a good idea at the time, but it just didnt pan out for me. Only + I can see for them is portability ( backpack, glovebox, etc... )

I never bought one, or have a need for one!
Not for a SHTF AR15

I have a JP and it works great.

For a hyper velocity round such as this, a bore snake is worthless. These rounds leave a lot more copper in the bore and getting the throat clean is extrmemely important to a long barrel life.

Apparently someone wasnt paying attention, one wouldnt have an AR chambered in 243 WSSM for a SHTF rifle! A more common caliber with more readily available ammunition fits that bill. (223 or 7.62X39)
