| I just got home from the range. Something very important just came up and I need to leave tonight and won't return for 2 days. I have NO time to clean my rifles until I get back. I know you are supposed to clean ASAP. I put 100 rounds through each rifle. One is Bushy DCM non-chrome lined, and other is chrome lined. I have Hoppes #9 powder solvent, Hoppes Elite foaming gun cleaner, BF CLP, and Rem oil. What should I do to the rifles to hold them over for 2 days (barrel and BCG)? REALLY I only have enough time to apply something quick before I leave. |
No one said it was. But, cleaning ASAP does make things easier verses letting carbon and crud harden over an extended period of time. As far as cleaning times go: We all have our own standards when it comes to cleanliness. Maybe he felt the time he had available was not adequate. |
When I offer to take any of my friends shooting, they know to budget in a good bit of time for the aftermath. I clean my weapons, and I clean them until they are clean. I do not set a stop-watch, I don't even look at the watch. Personally, I find it very relaxing and tend to lose myself in the task, only to finish and realise I have been cleaning for a couple of hours. I don't have much of a standard though, I guess I approach this with the KISS philosophy in mind. I clean my weapons until...they are clean. |
Cleaning for me is just as enjoyable as shooting, and it‘s a responsibility that goes right along with weapons ownership. I like to clean "smart". And if I can find a way to make things easier (like BF CLP/MS soak) then I will. But cleaning for me never was and never will be a “timed event”. |

i was just wondering i keep my weapons clean also but i dont always clean then rigth after i get done shooting i thought i might be missing something important. once at the range i saw a guy who ran a patch down the barrel after every round i thought it might be OCD or something. |
