When i got home after firing my AR today.  I started cleaning it, and noticed that the gas port on the bolt was very loose.  I didn't have the correct allen wrench to tighten it back up, i am wondering what size the screws for the bolt are.  My AR shoots the 5.56 round, not sure if that matters.  Also, when i tighten the screws down, am i able to use lock tight?  I read somewhere that lock tight does something to different types of metal to weaken it.

Thanks for the help!

I've seen 2 different size socket head used.

You need to stake the gas key to the socket head screws after you tighten them up to the proper T.

In your pic, do you see those 4 little dents in the key?  That is staking. The idea is to "flow" metal into the head of the bolt to keep it from turning.

Goto the ar15 manual section and dl the the TM for the M16. It will explain replacing the carrier key in detail.

I know the allen size they call out did not work for my Bushmaster, but worked for my Colt.
