I am trying to figure out what is the best long term storage solution for my AR. Its humid as hell in the summer and i dont have enough money to buy a safe or a pelican case for that matter. I bought a silicon impregnated sock but i fear thats not enough. Any suggestions?

Check out Creedmoor Sports.
They have a Breakfree product called Breakfree "Collector".
It's a long term storage lube developed originally for the military.  It's supposed to protect weapons for five years without needing to be reapplied; looks like good stuff.  I plan on getting myself some when I order my shooting jacket from Creedmoor in November.  I've never seen this product anywhere else except at Creedmoor Sports.

4 things that will work:

RIG: Rust Inhibiting Grease. Coat everything except wood. It is messy.

Boeshield: Spray-on wax type stuff.

VCI: Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor. Seal rifle in plastic bag with VCI impregnated paper. Least messy and will prevent rust for decades when used properly.

CLP: apply every 3 months
