Just curious.

I have read here that it is good to put a small coating of moly lube on the buffer spring and buffer.

Has anyone used White Lithium grease for any parts on their AR?  I have not used it but was wondering if there is actually any use for it in the AR platform.  I use either CLP or Mobil 1 Synthetic on all my weapons, but for things like slide rails on pistols, would white lithium be ok??

Curiosity has the best of me.

I think the white lithium grease is old tech.  The new molys are much better.  I used hi-temp disc brake wheel bearing grease on my slide rails.  You get pounds of that stuff for a few bucks.  Really cheap compared to the stuff from the gun companies.  There is grease even though you can't see it.  Of course don't slather that stuff on like creamed cheese on a bagel, because it will fly off and on to your clothes.  This is for range guns.

Now if you're going to Iraq/Afghanistan, I would go for the real good stuff that doesn't attract dust and dirt. I use MPro-7, it when it dries it doesn't attract dirt or moisture but it is still there.

The buffer and spring are not really high friction parts...I usually run them dry and have never had a wear related issue.
