I forgot where I read it, but supposedly some in the USMC use these to clean their guns.  Is there any truth that?

GI’s or Marines will use anything available to try and clean their weapon faster and better. You see, the faster you can clean your weapon, turn it in, and have it pass inspection by the armorer, the faster your out “joking n’ smoking” while your buddies are still toiling away down by the Arms Room. Believe me…….I’ve been there!

Baby wipes, shaving cream, toilet bowl cleaner, Simple Green, are just examples of some of the things tried in the past with the intention of cleaning better and faster. Stick to chemicals designed to clean firearms and you’ll be good to go.  The only chemical I use that is not labeled as a firearms cleaner is Brake Cleaner, but even there I limit it's use to flushing out the barrel before cleaning and the gas tube after cleaning.
