Is it ok to use brake cleaner on the bolt to clean it while its out? Or just stick to the gun solvent.\\ The reason I ask is because I used the brake cleaner and it cut alot of time off. It blasted everything right off, it dried clean and I oiled it. Seemed ok to me, just wanted to check before I do it again. |
| Brake cleaner is not the best thing to use for cleaning, but it certainly won’t hurt your bolt. I use it strictly for degreasing or flushing out parts. I use BreakFree CLP for general cleaning and light lubing, BreakFree Foaming bore cleaner for the chamber and bore, and BreakFree LP for lubing. |
It will also destroy every bit of lubricant you have in every nook and cranny. |
Good bit of advice. I just want to add that the same can be said about any of the aerosol cleaners, brake cleaner, carb cleaner, Gun Scrub, Break Free Powder Blast, even the non-aresol ones like Hoppes Elite, or Slip will remove all oils |
