These seem cheap enough but are the needed? I have two brand new AR's.

JUNK.

In my humble opinion.

This is one of those topics where you’ll get half the guys saying they increase your accuracy…..the other half against. I have never had a need for the accu wedge, I’m one of the non-believers.

Here is what ArmaLite has to say about receiver play:

TECHNICAL NOTE 55:  RECEIVER TIGHTNESS

Sometimes an upper and lower have a little slop-just tolerance variation, and an accu wedge will tighten it right up. the slop and wiggle is not worth loosing sleep, but I don't like it. I use accu wedges and can't speak to upgraded or degraded accuracy, but it does tighten up a loose upper/lower fit. Compared to half the nonsense people feel obliged to load on their ARs an Accu-Wedge is cheap, and invisible....

+1, I only bought it to tighten the upper/lower receiver fit and it works fine for that purpose.

+1  (mine were given to me)

Tried it.  It made the rifle feel a little better but there was no difference in accuracy at all.  It makes takedown a bitch and I took it out after I noticed some excess wear on the takedown pin.

I would never recommend one but whatever floats you boat...

It can't really affect accuracy as long as you are actually using the sights.  The sights are fixed to the barrel right?  That means that however much the upper and lower wobble, if you aren't just using muscle memory and butt to shoulder fit for aiming, it doesn't matter.  Sort of like how slide to frame tighness on 1911's is way overrated.
It can get rid of the wobble between the upper and lower if it's enough to bother you.  I got one for my M4 and other than making pin harder to push in, it didn't do anything.  The slight wobble was exactly the same with and without.  For an older, more worn rifle it probably would help to keep from rattling around.

I have 3 of those wedges. I bought one tried it, did not really do anything. The other 2 CDNN threw in when I bought Uppers off of them along with offset pins.

I do believe it has been proven NOT to affect accuracy...

but, I also believe that it can help your rifle stay nice and tight (no wobble between upper and lower receivers) and that is a good thing.

for little or no cost,... it cant hurt.

I've had one in all the AR rifles I've owned over the years.

Go for it.

I have one in my bushy just because it makes the rifle "feel better" to me. I do not have one in my rra because I need a hammer and punch just to separate/join the receivers on that rifle. I hope it loosens up over time, but I do have to admit that I prefer my rifles to feel like one unit.

Just personal preference. An accuwedge does not improve accuracy, only "feel."

Correct all it does is affect the operators headspace and timing. Does nothing to improve the rifles actual accuracy potental.

The only way it will 'loosen up' is to excessively wear down the takedown pin or the receiver holes.  Then what do think will happen if you take the wedge out?

I seem to remember someone cutting or grinding down their wedge.  Something to think about perhaps if you decide to keep it in.

I had to trim mine down to be able to close it up.  It would have taken a vice to compress it enough otherwise.  I'm sure there are plenty of rifles out there that have that much slop. but the RR Varmint I got was pretty tight and with the trimmed wedge it's just right. YMMV

Oh really? My CMP rifle is a modified Colt HBAR and the receivers rock about 1MM.  Does not affect accuracy though.
