What are the common non toxic or at least low toxic cleaners? Off the top of my head. Hot water. Vinager. Simple green. MPro7 Hoppes Elite Mineral Oil Snake Oil Prolix? Slip2000? |

Don't forget Mil-Comm MC-25. That is the best cleaner I have used. Quite a bit better than the MPro-7 that I had been using prior. Heard a lot of good stuff here about Slip 2000 but never used it. Simple Green is great for soaking/dunking STEEL parts overnight or longer to get 90% of the crud off. Follow up with more powerful cleaners (see above) to get the really blasted on stuff. I use brake cleaner (non-chlorinaded if plastic/wood is close by) after these cleaners to make sure all water / remaining dirt is flushed away. You will have a VERY clean rifle if you follow these steps. Be sure to re-oil quickly after the brake cleaner to prevent corrosion. |
Tempest45 I use the Mil-Comm MC-25 also. It is a very good cleaner and like you said better them Mpro7 and safer on your guns finish also. You need to try SLIP 2000 725 degreaser. It is very similer to MC-25 but even more effective and does not harm wood finish at all. I use both MC-25 and 725 and I keep finding myself reaching for the 725. It is the best I have ever seen but you still need a copper and lead cutter. |
There are lots of places to buy it but I order off their website www.slip2000.com. Try their gun oil too, it is being tested for military use as we speak at the Aberdean Proving Grounds. You can read up on it on their website but it is proving to be superior to just about everything on the market right now. It is the best stuff I have ever seen. They will send you a free sample too. |
