| I recently bought a 20-pack of 16-inch long AR15/M16 gas tube cleaners (i.e., 16-inch long pipe cleaners) from MidwayUSA (distributed by C.J. Weapons Accessories, Jefferson City, MO). Does anyone know how often one should run one of these down the gas tube, and with or without solvent? Given my time in the Army, I never saw any of these being used. |

If the gas tube needs cleaning, replace it!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, itis akin to wiping vs. a "deep cleansing high colonic with Vinegar and aromatic botanical oils + Yogurt" In 20 years I have seen but one clogged gas tube, and that was caused by some seriously GARBAGE ammo that isn't availale to the public or Mil. And frankly, the cleaning of the thing wouldn't have helped anyway!!!!!!! It's laudable that a guy considers such details, but the little black tart needs love and attention in other areas more than this. Keep her warm with Love and time at the range. Kick out the larger chunks. Q-tip the crevaces and slather her with a light and prcisely applied amount of lube. The Gas tube is a "No Zone". Leave Gas tube cleaning to Jerry Springer contestants and the overly decorated residential district in SanFran. Don'tmake me come out and say it in public!!!!!!!!!! Scrub the outside clean........ That's quite enough!!!!!!! S-28 |
