I recently purchased an Armalite M15A2. It came home mostly dry as a bone,
except for some sort of grease around the handguard locking ring.
I put a light coating of LSA on the bolt and hammer areas.
The Armalite "manual" isn't particularly specific about lubrication.
Any other points of concern that should be lubricated prior to taking this weapon out for it's initial firing?
It's been 30 years since AF Basic, damned if I remember this stuff!

A brand-new rifle probably needs to be given a good cleaning first. There is a good chance that it is coated in some areas with anti-corrosion coatings (cosmoline type stuff).

I would give the barrel a good clean, then clean lubricate the following areas:

- Bolt carrier.
- Bolt lugs.
- Charging handle.
- inside of the upper - where the bolt carrier runs.

What lubricant you use is your choice, but any decent lube will do (Tetra Grease, CLP, etc).
