I'm not really sure of how much oil to apply. I know I need to put oil on any moving parts. Should I put oil on a rag, and wipe it on moving parts so there's a very fine amount? Or just drop a little bit of oil, but then wipe it up? I had been oiling pretty liberally with one of my guns, but the gun is now filthy dirty due to dirt and grime, even though it's mostly an outdoor range gun.. |
| I downloaded the bushmaster manual from this site even though I don’t have a bushmaster I have been doing what it says. Basically I just use an oily rag on everything inside with a little heavier coating on the part of the bolt that goes into the carrier and on the contact points of the carrier. I usually just put a drop or two into the lower parts. I usually leave a light coat in the barrel but before I go shooting I run a dry patch through the barrel and wipe any oil off the bolt face. |

I use a 7/8" stencil brush to apply CLP to the parts I can access.Same for the exterior. No lint and it leaves the amount of oil I need on the parts. If too much I remove the excess with a black cloth or move the CLP around with the brush. For the inside of the upper I use the patch wet with CLP to apply a thin film of CLP. Otherwise I basically follow the -10. |
