I have been trying to remove the rail system to clean my weapon, but i think im missing something


I unlocked the side screws, and it slides forward about 1/2" but thats it

it doesnt move forward all the way

or far enough to clear any insertion points



Im going nuts here,  what am I missing??????

if its moving 1/2" then it has no other nut or screw holding it,

the problem i run into with that is that the lower protion is plastic so it is effected by temp easier and forms. so what it boils down to is

eat your wheaties and push it a little harder

I dont think thats it eh,  its actually catching on something inside

i think you have to remove the side rails before it will completely come off.  i've only removed mine a couple times but it was very difficult.

try that and if it doesn't work i'll get mine out and figure it out for ya.

I had the same problem. If you have a rubber mallet give the SIR a very, and I mean very light tap on the rear of it and it should come right off. I know some may not like the sound of that but I did say TAP and not STRIKE. Also, make sure you have it completely disassembled first. Place the AR in your lap and pull up on the top section of the SIR as you tap it toward the front sight post.
