What's the best way to clean the muzzle on a pre ban barrel without removing the FS (which I will do if I have to but would rather not have to any more than necessary)?

tools? techniques?

what are you trying to clean?  If you clean the bore from the breech to the muzzle, and not pull anything back into the muzzle and down the bore, that should be sufficient bore cleaning; your chamber and lugs need cleaning.  Are you asking about the residue that builds up on the little recess area?  That should come off easily with bore cleaner and a qtip.  Just make sure that you get it all cleaned evenly so it doesn't create a false "high/low" spot on the crown.  Pipe cleaners will lubricate the FS holes.  I'm not sure what you are having trouble cleaning.

I am in fact talking about cleaning the crown, I should've made that distinction a little more clear.  I have been using the clp and qtip on the crown, but its alot of work and doesn't really get rid of all the buildup.  I am always VERY careful with the chamber, bore and around the crown.  The only real success I have had getting the fouling off the crown is by taking the FS off and using mpro7 and kleenbore "toothbrush", but that 1) takes alot of time 2) always makes me nervous putting my barrel in the vice (even though I'm very careful not use any more pressure than necessary to get torque)

If qtips and clp is it then that's it, but I know there are alot more people with alot more experience than I have hanging out here so I thought I see what other advice I might get.
