Whats up Guys?
I just got a Bushmaster M4 and was wondering if  anybody has ever been out with their rifle during a rain storm.  If this was to happen to me...what precautions need to be taken.  I am going to be actively using my rifle this weekend and there is a strong possiblity for rain.  Let me know.
Thanks

First, I'd like to welcome you to the site, this place is really a great source of information.

It's been my experience that if you properly maintain your rifle, the rain will have no negative effects. In my 5 years of active duty, we subjected our rifles to much worse. Just need to make sure you clean it real well and apply a light coat of CLP.

Enjoy !

Yeap, keep them maintained and your good to go.
The gun will not rust just because its wet, unless your in salt water. When they start to dry is the problem. So dry the weapons off and wipe down with clp as soon as you can.Good to go.
Ive had my guns soaked so many times over the years I cant remember.Dont even think about it anymore.I just dry them off and clean with clp when I get back to a dry place.

Lube before hand with a good CLP breakfree or FP-10, not miltec as it is not a rust prevent though they would tell you other wise.

Go  have fun in the rain keep the bore free from water.

when u get home pull off the handguards dry the metal and re lube with CLP Break Free or FP-10. Your rifle will be fine,

try and dry as much as the water off as you can.  I usally use compressed air  to get the water out of all those tight places.

Another tip for you hunters out in the rain and tight woods.
Go to the store and buy some of those small party balloons.Btter yet some finger condoms. No reaaly,Im serious.
I prefer the green ones.
Before you go out slip the balloon over the muzzle to keep the water and crap out.
Twice while out stomping around in the rockies hunting elk Ive found pine needles in the bore of my 7mm mag. on inspection. Most of the time they have made thier way all the way down to the leade against the bullet. That cant be a good thing.
I use them anyway.Better safe than sorry.

I wonder what this guy uses to clean up his gun after swimming?

(I also wonder what the guy he was beating with his carry handle looks like!)

I guess it doesn't matter that the carry handle is disfigured, along as the rear sight is uneffected. Is that rust I see on the front sight post and barrel? I thought those guys took better care of their equipment.

Well, well, well - I see that we have a "poster child" for why you should Not get your AR soaking wet on a frequent bases.  Check out our boy's barrel and front sight body.  I wonder how rusted up the barrel bore is ???

Look closely, I'm willing to bet that rifle is a "rubber duck"...

I hope he takes better care of his rebreather than the steel part of his rubber duck rifle!
