Biokiller,

Brownells has them in stock from both Crest and L&R.

Check out Crest Ultra sonics web site.

http://www.crest-ultrasonics.com/

I work with a Crest 636HT Model.
If I remember correctly it cost $5,300.00 when purchased.

It's fast and does a great job, I would be lost without it at Work. But then consider the sheer volume of rifles and sidearms I have to maintain, and only then does the thing become cost effective.

5 Handguns takes 45 min. to an hour from start to finish including documentation and the inspection.

Long arms take an hour and a half when coming off of the range, and 2 can be done at the same time.15-30 Min tank time depending on power setting, level of filth in the solution, etc.

For someone who has maybe a dozen toys and only shoots 2-3 at a time, the cost is awfull high and you will also need to have available a deep sink or heated rinse tank, and a good sized air compressor.

I shoot quite a bit as I have my own range in the "Back yard" and do not feel the need to have a sonic tank here at the house untill they drop in cost to 500 bucks or so.

Hope this helps.

I have 2 L&R cleaners I purchased used from a dentist and love them.  I am a gunsmith / LEO Armorer but I only use them for heavy caked on carbon and for parts that I can't disassemble due to the excessive dirt. Since a good cleaning involves full tear down, and most dirt wipes right off I for go the ultrasonic cleaner.  Also get one with a timmer as they can ruin a small part if left in overnight by mistake.

Jim,

Good point on the ruining parts if left too long.

I recently discovered that Parkerizing applied heavily will disguise casting flaws;)

OOOOOPS!!!!!!!!!!!

30 Min on 1/2 power at 3/4 frequency knocked off the stuff not directly attached to aluminum.

Interesting comments from the manufacturer concerning the casting flaws however. ;)

Also once had a S&W M-10 go in the tank Blue and come out silver!

Cold Blue just can't hack it!

I sold a blue Job on the deal at 1/2 price and both of us were happy in the end.

Have you tried the tank for cleaning fired Brass yet?
Beats the Tumbler by a MILE!!!!!!!!!

Keep safe!

I have a L&R I purchased on Ebay for $170.  The tank is just large enough to hold the slide off my Glock 34, so I use it to clean hand guns and small parts.

It does a great job on trigger groups and such.  I use Mpro7 in the tank and filter it after use.  I am happy with mine and would buy one again.
