Didn't come up with anything in a search, maybe someone here can help.

In using JB bore cleaner the patches get darker and never seem to lighten.  I understand the paste is grey but after recommended use (5 runs through the bbl) the patches seem to be black and the next patch does not get progressively lighter.  Is this b/c the patch is being compressed by the jag and thus concentrating the paste (darkening it) or is it that I have an increadibly dirty bbl??

Hope this made sense and...thanks in advance.

JB Paste is like a metal polish and thusly it will always come out black. After a few JB patches, you should use clean patches with nothing on them til they come out clean.

JB is an abrasive and removes small fragments of metal from the bore - that's the dark color you see.  You'll have to use other means to determine whether the bore is clean since you'll never see a "clean" patch with JB.

Make sure you use a bore cleaner after the JB. I first clean the barrel with a Bore cleaner. Then do the JB paste thing. I wrap the Patch on a Bore brush and not a Jag. Then I use Bore Cleaner  again. Then wipe dry and use Shooters Choice Then dry patches till clean.

This is how the BenchRest guys do it that have shown me. Takes lots of time and if your doing 1 shot clean like this for your first 20. Then 5 shots claen for another 20. Then 10 shots clean for 50. Then 20 shots clean for 100.

JB and Kroil is a nice combo too.

JB bore paste is the greatest thing since slice bread when it comes to cleaning a rifle bore after alot of shooting.  The best way to see if you have all the copper out of the bore it to:

1.  Make sure rifle is unloaded

2.  Clean it, then shine a light down the   muzzle end of the barrel at an angle, if you see copper and you want it out, keep scrubbing.

Mattja is right, match JB with Kroil and you'll take all the fouling out, pronto.
